The other day my friend & roommate Ruth Abend took some photographs
of myself and other Mulligan Studios housemates and affiliates. The images were for an advanced photo project for a class that she's currently taking at The College of Visual Arts in Saint Paul. From what I understand, her idea was to take old time mugshot photographs of individuals that were dressed with sophistication and some elegance. The individuals were then asked to act like fashion models, rather than people who just got arrested. Playing solely with lighting and value, the front and side view were taken to convey the sense of a fashion friendly mugshot.
The greatest part is that although these photographs look like they were taken in a photo studio, they were actually just taken in our tiny hallway upstairs with only one desk lamp. I was happy with the outcome. Ruth should be as well. Their classy photographs.
