Trevor Olson & The Miracle Fruit

It was my good friend Trevor Olson's birthday this past Saturday so I made
him a gift that was inspired by his favorite shirt that he often wears. Slightly achromatic with the slab serif typeface Clarendon, which depicts a phrase that Trevor often says to people. The design has a simple pattern in the background, with illustrative lines overlaid on top of the pattern. Simple yet effective. It was quite a change from my normal ways—much more playful. Below is a photograph of Trevor as a cowboy.

As the day continued on Saturday, Trevor invited a number of friends over
to his house where we ate Miracle Fruit, or the Miracle Berry Plant, or Synsepalum dulcificum to be exact. A strange plant that's found and grown only in West Africa. When the berry is placed on ones tongue and sucked on, the berry then changes the taste of foods consumed. In particular, the taste changes sour foods like lemons and limes into a sweet and more tolerable taste. The effect apparently lasts anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or so, depending upon how many berries are consumed.

We ate szechuan flower recently in an experiment at work. It tastes like putting your tongue in an electrical socket, and then you drool everywhere. WOOO PARTY

Oh man, that's intense Danielle! I've never heard of the Szechuan Flower. Not that I should be familiar with it though.
